A Stroll in the Park - If the Trees Could Talk
75
Today my partner, Phil and I, took a stroll in the park in the early evening. We have been in this park countless of times. If the trees could talk they would tell of two playmates who truly enjoy being together, because there are no expectations or demands that either one of us be anything but who we are. There isn't criticism or game playing that inhibits either one of us. They would speak of the laughter, the chats that inspired mental and spiritual shifts when understanding was reached; they would speak of some eye rolling when either one of us would get impatient; they would speak of tears when the sudden death of a young one touched my family, and how he held me and simply let me cry on his shoulder like a 5 year old. The last time I cried this hard was exactly when I was 5, and did not see my devoted Mother for a while due to difficult circumstances in life.
The park compared to several parks I have been in the country, especially Central Park in New York, which was my lunchtime hangout, is small, simple, but its a place where we both have created a history and a bond, and for this I am grateful. As we strolled hand in hand in silence, with a drizzle gently touching us, and tall trees in various shades of green embellishing the space of the park, while the river gently made splashing sounds, I suddenly felt my heart open and a tear roll down on the side of my face. I felt a deep communion with the sacredness of love and life, and was so moved, that I had to catch my breath.
The most beautiful experiences in my life are not ones where I have obtained material goods, achieved a promotion or dressed to the nines to attend fancy company parties, but the quiet ones by the fireplace, watching TV while munching popcorn, and taking our strolls in nature. When kindred souls be it lovers, family or friends can sit down and enjoy each other's company and accept the fullness of the moment, life becomes rich.
When I look back at my life, my heart remembers moments with my late elderly Mother, who would take a cab and stay in my place, and I would cook her favorite dish and chat into the late evening like two teenagers: and of my late nephew's 9 year old eyes sparkling with anticipation when I would pick him up to go hang out in the city. He knew we would have a good time together.
If the trees could talk, it would speak of love, of tears, of life's peaks and valleys, and how the simple pleasures in life stand out for me, and of my grateful heart.

Lovely! We are so caught up in day to day concerns, we often miss the wood for the trees! :)
You've inspired me to go walking with my wife. Great Hub, thanks.
Thanks, VS, for a great way to wake up this morning. Loved the hub and the pictures. :=)
So lovely! I can live vicariously when I read something so soothing and peaceful - it makes me feel good as well. So I enjoyed journeying along with you and your partner.
Thanks for the lovely stroll!
Another great hub. I have been an avid hiker all my life. The outdoors, the parks, and the forests are where I feel alive and in tune with nature.
Thanks for posting.
As I began to read this hub, my phone rang, it was a friend whom I've known since I was 5, she asked 'want to go for a walk at the pond?'. Oh boy, am I ready, as I drop everything and run, Yes, Yes, Yes. I want to go. Thanks for inspiring me Marie, as I wonder what the trees will say? :)
Violetsun-this is an absolutely lovely hub, written with passion and peace.
Thank you,
Laurel
great moving hub we need tp protect earth for us all
Thank You so much for this Hub. I love the way you inspire me to write more and more. You can pick-up anyone when they might be down.

Keep up the Hubbing
VioletSun, the closer you are to nature the happier you become. Lovely hub.
Your words touched the core of my heart. I've imagined such picturesque scenes very often but have never had the privilege of experiencing the serenity they offer, in real life. I can very well imagine how satisfying it can make one feel while walking beside the love of ones life. I guess I've to wait for that moment...God knows for how long. You really stirred up some of my buried desires. Your words do have that kind of effect on me as they come straight form your heart. May you always feel connected to the Nature as thats the only place which gives real happiness in the kind of world we live in. Take care. (Hugs)
Nice moving hub.
What a beautiful hub! I have to say that I am hopeful that I too can find a "kindred soul" to spend precious moments with. I think many of us long for that, and it is always nice to see someone appreciate the things in their life that are so precious. So many take things for granted.
I am also learning that sometimes there is love even in the hard times. We just have to look for it through our tears.
Thanks Marie, I did have fun and I believe what you say is so true, it is the simple things that have the most impact on us over the long haul. Spontaneously stepping out of the daily routine for a simple walk with a friend to enjoy the warmth of the day, taking in the sites and sounds of the water, the swans, turtles, ducks, and birds is refreshing and ... I believe if the trees could have talked today they would have said, you girls need to get together more often, come back soon! LOL.
Beautiful write-up, Marie. I've always enjoyed walking through the woods and felt just as you've felt. In truth, I actually lived in the woods for nearly a decade and will be moving back very soon. I've always enjoyed the serenity of such, of being a part of nature. I see that there's a esoteric story here about the lost of a young one, but of course it's very personal to you. I just know enough to know that this little person meant a great deal to you. Thank you for sharing this one.

I love this hub Marie! And I love seeing you with Phil walking together and laughing. If the trees could talk--nah, they wouldn't only talk but they would be giggling and feeling wondrously happy seeing joyous creatures walking by with love in their hearts. Okay, I'm being romantic tonight after a loooong day at work. Tomorrow is graduation day for the kids and I will bid you now goodnight. Perhaps I will dream of long roads and glorious trees and laughter all around me. Love much... :)
Beautiful, lovely, healing HUB! I can relate to this mystical process that I call Walking in the Light. When we shine a light on the darkness, all that is negative simply melts away. Namaste....Gary.
Marie, I just had to come back. This morning when I woke up, I was in the balcony doing my morning meditation and started talking to God with so much gratitude in my heart. I smiled looking at the trees and remembered you and this hub. The birds were chirping and the early morning air was cool.
And then the sun, the yellow sun, which was rising on the horizon was so beautiful. I stood mesmerized by it. I don't know what happened but the next thing I knew, the color, my vision became violet. The whole sun and surrounding nearby sky was now violet. I blinked several times but it was still violet. I went back to my room and the light in my room was still violet.
When I shared to Daisy about it, she laughed and laughed and remembered your nickname..violetsun. She then said that violet represents wisdom and that experience was what happened to me...receiving wisdom in the early morn!
I just had to share with you coz it's a wonderful funny incident about your name too! LOL
I just love this hub. You have touched upon the real moments in life. The ones that are the most meaningful. The ones that so many people are not even aware of.
The beauty that surrounds each and everyone of us. Just waiting to be noticed and taken in. I can relate so much to what you have said, as it is the real moments in life that I live for. I have always felt that I was one with nature and I believe that having this connection, brings out the very best. When there is a soul connection with nature and the universe, you open yourself up. Your awareness is heightened and you tune in to the finer things in life.
And yes, if the trees could talk just imagine the stories that could be told. What a lovely thought to ponder. Awesome hub, rated up!
Thanks for sharing,
Sage
What a beautiful story, and what a great relationship you have. Beautiful title and pictures. And you're right, if we could understand how trees talk between them we could listen to wonderful stories. Because they do communicate, but we don't understand. :) Thumbs up.
I continue to be awed at life's magnificence and beauty and our connection with our divinity. You are most welcome Marie. Love much and blessings. Huggggssss! :)
Ooh she did? Hugs to your sister as well. This news makes me very happy! I am going to watch a video now that Daisy forwarded to me about energy and the heart. She said I must see it for me to understand more and be able to use my gift fully. I am so excited Marie. I will share with you as soon as I can.
Mary, your Hub is - romantic and so special and inspiring...it was pure pleasure to read it...and sense happiness, wisdom and peace that come from your words...
BTW, photos are beautiful, you took them?
Love and hugs, and nice regards to your dearest ones.
too often we allow the toxic things in life to distract us from the beauty that is there just waiting for us.....as always very lovely and a nice share
Small park, big park; it does not matter at all. Communing with nature gives so much rewards to our spiritual being. We need to have more of it in our lives. Thanks for sharing this friend; VioletSun. God bless.
Marie, I have read this a number of times now and each time I hear a different whisper through the trees. What a beautiful title and description, I appreciate your in depth sharing of the many different aspects the trees have experienced through your shared emotions. As I have walked into many wooded areas recently after reading this I stopped a few times to ponder what stories they have to share and the memories they have retained from many other wanderers such as you and Phil. I really have appreciated this perspective you have shared and the wonderful images it has conjured in my minds eye. You always share from the depth of your heart and experiences, Thanks you so much for this. Love, Light and Blessings to you on this journey, Sue :-)
Oh! My dear Marie...Pero claro que pueden hablar y tambien escuchar! There are two ways: you can either listen to them with your physical ears, which is hard to decipher or you can listen to them with your mind and soul and then you can understand them perfectly. Next time you go for a stroll, put your hands around the trunk and talk through your heart and listen! You´ll be surprised, dear Marie...
Thanks for sharing!
Warmest regards and infinite blessings to you and Phil,
Al
Such a wonderful hub Violet!
A great hub on this topic and the photos are feel me with peace. Well done. Enjoy.
Getting in step with you and the Earth is exhilarating and breathtaking, your zeal for life reflects through all of your work and this hubs just like all of the others are wonderful. :)
Wow how beautiful. I agree the most beautiful things are not in material things but in the beauty of nature around us. :)
Sorry for your loss and the sadness that follows your heart, continue writing I enjoy reading!
There's something noble yet majestic about trees. I can't place a finger on it but I sure can feel it. Short and sweet this hub is. Thanks for that moment to reflect marie :D
Just reading it another time and I've found it beautiful again. :)
That was an oasis of a hub VioletSun! There's something about trees that is magical, isn't it? I love the idea that if they could speak, they would speak of love.
VioletSun-thank you for this hub-an opportunity to pause and reflect on what is most precious in our lives. It was the image of the tree that caught my eye, urging me to read. I'm sorry for the loss of your nephew. I'm new to hubpages, however, I'm enjoying reading your work. I think we have much in common.
Loved this Hub - its so important to have such moments of togetherness, and a lovely park certainly adds to the experience!
Love and peace
Tony
Trees do talk, they tell of their life and the things they were forced to face. We are the ones that need to listen more to them and hear what they are saying in the wisp of a breeze that passes through their leaves and branches reaching out. They provide shade, air, home for birds and animals and beauty for us to behold....please read my offering for them “Ode to a tree.” Thanks for your tribute to them and for the nice words you offered us to read.
Hi Violet! A beautiful piece. I practically lived in Central Park: Jogging and riding my bike, and spending entire saturdays there, practicing acrobatic frisbee, watching musicians, roller skaters, those fellows who were inventing the bicycle riding stunts that are so common today, even the occasional horseback riding, and just general people watching, strolling around and enjoying cold beers sold by young entrepreneurs from their bicycles. There is no other place like it!
Funny you would say that. My head in my avatar was drawn by a street artist in the Village!
..if trees could talk as you walk by - they would say "this is the reason we grow leaves - she inspires growth, color and beauty."

That was a catchy title, caught my eye. :)
Many times(not Sometimes) simple and small places have more importance in our lives than the famous locations full of glory.
