After Death Visitation - A Creative Hello from Beyond the Grave!

Ghetto Chicks and Butterflies
My sister Norma and her son, Omar, had a life long private joke where she called him my 'little chick' even if he was a robust 6 ft. 1 inch tall, 18 year old teenager; he would on occasion sign birthday cards with 'Love your little chick, Omar'.
Little did they know that one day their private joke would reach her from beyond this world. One that brought tears and smiles and confirmation that he is alive and in a better place.
On a warm New York night in July 26, 2005, Omar came home with a severe headache which was thought to be a migraine; but this headache was different; he had seizures for the first time, which led to a trip to the emergency room. While his Mom and best friend, Gerson waited for the emergency room doctors to take care of him, Omar suddenly took his mother's hands and kissed them over and over again and told her he loved her. He then turned to his best friend, kissed his hands and told him he loved him; it is as if a part of him knew he was going to die as these were his last words; he closed his eyes after receiving a sedative and died peacefully. Not the doctors or his mother expected him to die. The cause of death was undiagnosed hydrocephalus; water in the brain. His brain filled with water and literally exploded. His passing as horrific as it sounds, was very quick so he did not suffer.
For those of us who are left behind after a loved one leaves, signs that confirm that they are still alive, but in another place where humans cannot enter or be aware of yet, brings much needed comfort; a balm that soothes an aching heart. While preparing for the funeral arrangements, Omar's Mom asked for a sign of a chick; it could be a card, a picture, a stuffed animal, even a song, as long as it was a clear sign that Omar had heard. I asked for a sign of blue butterflies, this was to be my hello from a nephew who loved to tease me. A few days passed, and I went to the room I was staying in my sister's apt. as I live in Oregon, to check the computer for my emails, and opened an email from my boyfriend; much to my surprise, he had passed on a joke picture from an online friend, of two pirate chicks with red bandannas around their heads poking at a cat with a sword (see photo on top right). I had not mentioned the sign that my sister had asked for or their private joke to my boyfriend or to anyone. What made this sign even more touching was that my sister had a picture of Omar as the wallpaper of her computer, where he has a big smile and is wearing a bandanna; it was a joke picture as he was not into bandannas. The tears wouldn't stop flowing; they were tears of grief and also tears of gratitude that her boy would be so creative even after death; he chose to not settle in sending her only a picture of a small, yellow chick, but of two chicks and with bandannas on. He made sure his mom would recognize his humor. He was in essence saying, 'I love you mom; I heard you, and I am here!'
About two weeks passed afer the funeral, and as we put one foot after the other while in a daze, which I believe is Spirit's way of helping one cope with a traumatic loss, to be in a temporary state of denial, the doorbell in my sister's home rang. It was her new neighbors who had moved in from China and wanted to introduce themselves and their two little girls. They brought her a small gift wrapped box as a gift. When she opened the box, there was was a handcrafted butterfly with blue eyes and blue circles... Omar gave me my sign.
My nephew's passing and his continuing spiritual presence, has started to shift our reality to a sense of awareness that the spirit is eternal and survives death. His physical presence will always be missed, but we are grateful for the confirmations from Spirit.

I believe.
I believe that love ones never leave you,
and if you can shrug off centuries of programming,
you can really feel their presence.
I think they exist there and here, somehow.
They are happy, but they only feel sad for us, who are left behind.
Thanks, Violet, I'll send this to two friends who had suffered a loss.
i lost my husband 5 months ago in a tragic accident. Though i have not got such coccrete evidences of his being there yet, i do believe that he is around. My son, who is 6 years old says he can feel daddy. I have had dream visitations and I most definitely believe hat our loved ones stay with us forever! your story gives me so much hope. Thanks
Such a poignant and beautiful story. A lovely start to my day as it's around my father's anniversary and I've been wondering about life beyond our 'mortal coil' as well. Be well.
Why not start a second edition???This has helped me greatly!!my grandson was recently killed--we were very close and I have many times I feel he is right here with me--we are in a battle right now for his justice and he tells me I'm winning even when I feel like I'm getting kicked.
I feel he plays with other little children who have passed on and he comes visits Paw-paw every once in awhile--thanks I needed this!!
this is Omar's mom... thank you little sister for posting this story...there are so much to tell, and many heaven sent messages; but sis is the writer and she'll be posting more of this beautiful ADCs with Omar, communications through Mediums, poetry and more... Blessings to all for 2008! Love/Norma
Life is so short and it is nice to be able to get a sign after someone has passed on and realize that they also gave you a sign before. My dad died from alzheimers in May and it was so hard.I miss him but I know he is in a better place with God.
Death holds no power, it is merely a gateway to another place for our life-energy to exist and thrive.
Your story of Omar proves how powerless death is and how powerful life is. Omar is a powerful life force that transcends our world and yet, as you pointed out, can reach back to it with love.
Very beautiful story. I have a similar experience where my boyfriend who died tragically in a car accident came to me as an apparition....I wrote about it in my hub on a Tribute to Desmond...it confirmed the same thing to me and helped me move on, although never forgotten....I will think of Omar now when I see butterflies as well!!!!
Beautiful Expression! BRAVO! Si es posible anotar musica eres mi angel?

Carinos, Jesse
That was really touching. I think I've recived signs from the deceased. They made me feel much better. Thanks for the uplifting hub!
Wonderful Hub...Thanks for sharing!
"I Am Your Angel" ~ had the thought that if you put the lyrics here ~ don't ask me why other than that they are lovely and frost the cake. Small font?? Dunno' ~ not schooled in this Forum. Matters not. Just passing on the thought ~ you are copyrighted, so ~ huh? Your choice, of course.
Ever, Jesse tu amiga
What a lovely story. I read somewhere that a large percentage of people who lose someone close to them to death receive a visitation or sign shortly afterward. I think that is so comforting. Thanks, Violetsun.
All I can say is WOW! First reading a powerful but sensitive hub and then to wander through all the comments. There is a beautiful sense of sharing here. Wonderful to see and feel!
Violet - you are inspiring!
Smiles and Light
I appreciate you sharing this hub with us.
Funny thing...as I was reading this, something "Awesome" came to me...if I may, I will share. It is not only in death that these "small wonders" come to us from a loved one, but in life as well. This morining as my alarm clock went off, there were a few seconds of an ending to one song, and then as my eyes opened, there came the new song, one I had shared with someone not too long ago. As amazing as this is, this person was on my mind, and very much alive. So, what I am saying here, taking the long way around, is that there are comforts daily from those we love and care for, who love and care for us, whether living or have passed. It is just a matter of "tuning in".
Thanks for Sharing!
Have a Dynamic Day!
Nice Hub, its like a movie.
These arelovely sentiments and a good story to pass on to others that have lost someone. We can have comfort, Thanks for the Hub!
I read this story today! This is wonderful reality that such experiences provide us surity of eternal life and soul's presence!
Thank you Violetsun!
You are an awesome lady and writer! I love true stories from the heart! I, myself, love writing about my experiences with spirits because they come from my heart and not my head, as you can tell by the scattered way I write. lol! I love Hubpages too because everyone seems like expressing themselves on here is comfortable, no harsh judgements on spelling or writing and it's a nice place to just get it out or get help from friends! Take care and nice to meet you!
A touching and thought provoking hub. Thank you
Lovely! (and SO true!) I lost my Mom in July 2008...I still feel her prescence everyday..I KNOW shes here. She sends signs through music. (Ever heard Cindy Campo...she's got a beautiful voice and writes & sings what she calls "soul songs"..she's on the web) My Dad passed away in July 1991 and since the day of his burial, he sends signs through Monarch butterflies...I have had SO many experiences with Monarchs landing on my head or shoulder, or fluttering around me in circles. I am a firm BELIEVER!!
Just wonderful..this really touched me.
