I have been pondering what I could write about; was going to write an article about self-publishing, but I noticed we have quite a few hub writers who are published authors, so there is really nothing new that I could contribute. I figured the best source of information would be from a published author, so I made a request for the hub to be written. I would love to read of an author's experience with self-publishing or through a contract with a publishing company. (The request was recently answered: On Being Published)
I was writing a book on transcending grief in honor of my 18-year-old nephew who passed away 3 years ago; I didn't make that much progress, just 50 pages or so, but my heart is not in it anymore. The handling of grief is personal, depending on our background, religion, spirituality or lack of it - I truly believe that Nature gives us what we need to handle loss. I created a website with my sister (my nephew's mom) which is a source of inspiration, guidance and resources that may be helpful to others. The link is in my profile page.
I now understand why is it that my heart is not in writing the book on grief. I realize this was a process for me to heal, by allowing myself to feel the sorrow and learn to still my mind and spirit; it was this part of myself, that gave me resilence and courage and the ability to transcend the darkness of sadness. I needed to do this, in order to also be a source of strength for my sister; she deserves nothing less from me. One never gets over the loss of a child, but the burden of the pain has become less oppressive, and the ability to be compassionate and more appreciative of life has become much deeper. To me life is sacred, reason, why I appreciate it, and laugh often too. I am not always serious, as I may appear to be. :)
Now that I have decided to nix the grief-writing project, and continue to focus on life's possibilites, it has created a space for me to move in a new direction. I will start writing a book on a topic that is in alignment with my nature - which will be of an inspirational, psychological and spiritual topic, and also create various sets of affirmation and meditation cards, a few which I am sharing in this hub.
Since I have more time, I have also dug my old manuscript of a children's story about angels, which almost got accepted by "Hampton Roads", about 12 years ago. It was so thrilling to receive a "maybe', instead of a "no, thank you". I suspect, a few readers are wondering why it wasn't published. The editor wanted my book to be illustrated, and at the time, I didn't know anyone who could illustrate my story, and then I got caught up with work at the bank. By the time I responded which was :::averting everyone's cyber eyes:::: a year and a half later, the editor had left the publishing company. I know... I know... I sabotaged my good, but that was my pattern then. Instead of resubmitting my manuscript to publishing companies who hardly share the profits, and like to reject works, I have decided to self-publish this little story. It should be fun!
As promised, below are a few cards from one of the decks I am creating.
In the Now
Freedom
Love
Change
Awareness
Once you write your book, will you self publish or submit your manuscript to a publishing company?

WOW!! Those meditation cards really look really awesome. One of the luxuries in life that I often ignore in this winter is to take walk during sunrise. It really fills my heart with immense peace and happiness which is unexplainable. I also admire the fact that you understand so many perspectives and consider grief management to be a personal thing(indeed it truly is). May your sister and the rest of the family find peace after the physical departure of the beloved soul.
very Inspirational hub
I am thrilled for you VioletSun as you embark upon new endeavors, in a new direction that is closer to your heart.
Understanding the handling of grief, your belief that Nature gives us what we need to handle loss, and your ability to transcend the darkness of sadness is indeed a personal story and truly so very inspiring.
The cards which you are creating for your new project are eye-catching and so appealing.
I wish you the very best as you journey onward. Have fun and continue to laugh often. ~Dottie~
Simply awesome, VioletSun!I’m so sorry about your nephew and yes,I visited 'justabreathaway', it was so touching.Your cards are just amazing!Wish you all the very best!:)
Cards are stunningly beautiful; they seem to reflect peace, calm and poise.
Reading about your story and the reason for getting your book published, I couldn't stop myself from sharing a similar thought. I had promised myself that I would never reveal the facts which inspired me to write a Novel ('from the desk of a daughter',to be released in ending Jan) about the horrifying experiences of a woman who happens to be very close to me. I did it for the same very reason as you did. I wanted to get it off my chest. It was making my life miserable. Flushing out my thoughts worked miracles for me. I am at peace with myself now. Thx for sharing this.
Hi VioletSun, you have moved on! Loving congratulating hugs to you! LOL I see this clearly in your statement "Now that I have decided to nix the grief-writing project, and continue to focus on life's possibilites." Actually, I have also felt that in your recent hubs and comments. I guess I am struck deeply by this because I too have moved on from my "pain" and want to focus now on saying yes to life with a grateful heart. Love your meditation cards that is so full of wisdom and beauty! Go, go and go and self publish your book. We give you our full support! :-)
Hahahah simply beautiful... Wow! Yay! Isn't that just awesome? When you chose life's possibilities, life says "Yes!!!" I thank you for sharing this. I am truly happy for you. :-)
Oooh, I am so excited...and will be waking up daisy soon to share this news with her. LOL
My healing chant? Hahaha hmmm...okay, we will plan on it. Thanks for the encouragement and support. :-)
Beautiful! I always thought it would be cool to create a tarot deck, and I really like this other direction you have taken it. Good luck, I think they are lovely. Thank you for sharing some of them with us here.
Lovely cards, VioletSun. And your description of being stuck, working through it, and finding a path with heart is quite moving. Thank you.
ViolateSun, This one is really nice hub as well as the concepts behind writing cards are also matching with the visual effects... I really enjoyed seeing and reading those ... This is a moving up thing also!
Thanks for sharing!
Hello VioletSun, your meditation cards emit the calm and gentleness of your spirit. I was smiling as I read your story. Ripplemaker and I also have dreams of publishing our own books. Isn't that wonderful? We share so many things with you. I am very happy for the special connection we have with you. I know you play a big part in our spiritual growth. Thank you for your presence in our life. Be blessed always:)
Beautiful ad inspirational. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be isiting those sites soon.
Love and peace,
Tony
Hi VioletSun! This was very inspirational, it sounded like a liberation, it seems you shed a "weight" that was holding you down, in a manner of speaking, and have freed yourself to fly in another direction. It sounds like you closed one door but opened a very big airy window. Best to you in your new project!
I tend to just do what makes me happy and put the subject of money out of my mind. If you love it, do it. I find that anything I try to do for money, usually isn't the best of me, but likely the worst of me.
This is beautiful, VioletSun! Those cards are spectacular and I look forward to seeing them all!
My mom took a similar path with her (self-published) book, first she wrote one about my father's infidelity, which was a tremendously healing experience for her, and with that out of the way, she's been able to focus on the book she really wants to write, which is about personal and spiritual empowerment.
Best of luck with your writing projects!
Hi just dropping by to say I read your news and left you a message in Ripplemaker's hub too. Gosh I am so blessed to hear about your current development. May the abundance of life and love continue to overflow in your life. Hugs:)
Hi VioletSun!
It is amazing how treasures, like the ones you are sharing here, come to those of us who are on a path for answers.
Thank you for being in tune with your higher self.
Have A Dynamic Weekend!
Sincerely,
Yippity
Woweee....when you do let us know the name of it...I would love to buy one...I have a son-in-law that is a Great Illustrater...believe me...One day we will write a book together...he is doing one now for some friend of his...good luck sweetie and your cards are lovely...Thanks so much for sharing them G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace
One day when I do publish I plan on self-publishing just because I like the idea of having more control. I already work with libraries and could give them a copy of my book, which would be a foot in the door so to speak. To me there are many little things a self-publisher can do and be successful. I enjoyed this hub and thanks for sharing.
Hi Violetsun,
Your cards are beautiful. I'm so glad that things are looking up for you. Reading about your writing ventures reminds me that I also wrote a children's book a couple of years ago, and after receiving a couple of rejection slips, I shelved it and haven't looked at it since. Maybe it's time to dust it off and try again. Thank you for the inspiration! Thumbs up!
The pictures/photos are beautiful and do match the inspirational words which are much needed for so many people today.
Great idea.
Sorry about the passing of your nephew. Blessings to him for a smooth transition.
Thanks for sharing a sample of your inspiration cards. I LOVED them both visually and for their content. Coming from someone who has had a hard year with the loss of my dad, dog and going through a divorce, these cards are something I would add to my list of wants and needs to help me focus on the good in life and to motivate me to build on what I do have which is still so much!
Good luck with all your endevors in life!
Robyn :)
Violet,
About the publishing question; if I was writing a "how to" book, I'd probably self-publish it. Novels, fiction in general, most non-fiction also, would be better left to the pros, from my point of view. But, if I came across someone who knew about the self-publishing arena, I wouldn't necessarily self-publish my novel, but, when I finish my book based more in reality, I would most definitely consider self-publishing. Just my own POV, but I'm not a published writer, other than magazine work, so I'm as lost as everyone else!!!
Wish you all the best with your future book...inspiration will come in the right moment,,,,and all the chapters as well....it is just a little bit more complicated then writing a Hub it is like a giant Hub....Maybe you can use some of your Hubs as well in your book.
A lots of Love and Light
Suggestion for your problem, which will work:
You need the following homeopatics:
Kali Phos 6D, Mag Phos 6D, Kali Mur 6D, Calc Fluor 6D, Arnica and Passiflora 30C. Dilute sugar tablets in big glass of water ( 2-3 of them for each remedy. Drink several times per day. The best is to prepare big bottle of it) Next time when you buy them, you can buy in 200 C potency. You will see the difference very soon. Vitamins B as well, multivitamin/multimineral remedy as well. Drink every day sage-tea, or choose any other herb you find apropriate for nerves.
A lots of love
Your cards are very beautiful. I love pictures of nature in all its splendor. Once you get your cards finished, I would definitely love to buy them.
Excellent idea, VioletSun. Let us know when you are finished. Such a great way to channel your energy into a project like that. Inspiring idea.
Lovely cards! I really like cards of all kinds as a meditation and improvement tool. I use tarot, playing cards and also create meditation cards using index cards to set and achieve goals. Nothing so fancy and lovely as your cards, though! :) I think cards are just great because of the visual and tactile anchoring they provide and the fact that you can just pop one into your pocket to carry with you if you need to be reminded of your focus through the day!
Great project and Hub!
:) Suzanne
My pleasure! :) Like your new profile pic, too!
your words are inspiring, thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. What a knockout idea. Please let us know when they come out. I will buy a deck for myself, as well as for gifts. YOU are a gift. Thank you for sharing this part of yourself.
On grief: I could not agree with you more. How insightful that you realized and let go of the book about your grief. That your healing was part of the end result of your efforts to express this grief through telling his story. When my husband died that is all I could do-grieve, write, cry, and recycle. I have this experience written, and currently with an editor for an anthology of grief stories. It was a final healing-so cathartic.
Keep us posted.
I do recall you mentioning the Whispers of Truth in another correspondance between us. I'm looking forward to reading it. :)
Hi VoiletSun - These photos are stunning. Did you take them yourself? Beautiful Idea. Best wishes to you.
You inspire many to the possibilites of releasing emotions by meditating. Your site is great and I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Love the card idea.. :)

Thank you..Thank you Violet for sharing this...I am working on my own grief of a different circumstance and am using my experience to write something that may help others..or not...regardless though, I think it will..no, I know it will, because it is already...help deliver me from my extreme 'darkness of sadness' myself..
Thank you again for this and I love your cards! I too enjoy making inspirational cards!
Warm regards,
In Light & Love~~~
