Northern Lights over Teepees - Awesome Photos
68These photos of Northern lights over Canada were sent to me by a friend and had to share with everyone!
I have never had the privilege of being in the midst of a Northern Light atmospheric phenomena, but I know that if I were ever to experience the earth suddenly taking on these beautiful dancing colors, and knew for a fact it wasn't a natural disaster or radiation, my eyes would probably get wet, and I would gasp in experiencing such awesome natural beauty!
Northen Lights- Yellow Knife, Canada
Taking a deep breath and admiring the natural beauty!
So, peaceful...
Perfect for a postcard!
A combo of different dancing lights...
Pretty majestic...
Wish I was there...
Nebulas - nature's wonders hidden from many
This hub has awesome photographs and great descriptions!
Comments from the sender of these photos: This is a fire rainbow- the rarest of all naturally occurring atmospheric phenomena.
The picture was captured this week on the Idaho/Washington border. The event lasted about an hour.
Clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20K feet in the air, with just the right amount of ice crystals and the has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees.
One more wonder photo from another source...
Another set of Northern Lights phenomena inspired a meditation a few weeks ago, which is part of a set that I have created and will be published soon. Thought, I would share this too!
Life can be a source of wonder, I am open to more!
A Feast for The Eyes...

Hi VioletSun - I got this forward too and was enthralled at the colours and the wonderful artistry of Nature! Thank you for letting all share in this beauty!
These look surreal!!! What a sight for sore eyes!!! Thank you!
Such a wonderful world this is, despite everything. Ahh if only we take more time to notice all things around us, from a rose bud to the most magnificient natural wonders, Thanks for sharing, the pictures are aweinspiring :D
Wow! So beautiful. It is one of my big fantasies to live in the NW Territories but it is so expensive up there and you have to be a nurse or something useful to make it, which I'm not. Still, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing these.
The teepees look stunning against the backdrop of the lights...wow!
Someday. Someday. Someday.... I will get to see the Northern lights and I don't care if it's a pup tent. Magnificient photos and hub!
I echo Jeri in this. One of my long held dreams. dancing spirts in the sky. lovely pictures thanks
Wish I were there too! Magnificent photos. Life certainly can be full of wonder.
Hope your dreams are being filled with Northern Lights!
Your creation is also beautiful. Good luck with the publishing.
Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing them with us. Seeing the Northern Lights has been on my bucket list for years. Someday!
Camping in tents is so much fun...especially under the Northern lights...wonderful shots and breath taking rainbow shot...yours is very lovely too...Thanks sweetie for sharing G-Ma :O) Hugs
VioletSun, so beautiful.
Thankyou for sharing such wonders. Iam sorry for going off the topic here but have ever looked at the pictures of Nebulas? They are simply amazing.
It is one of my "things to do before I die" things.
I have put the link to this hub of yours in the hub for Nebulas that I just created. Hope you don't mind.
what an incredible sight! i saw the northern lights once, a rather subdued version, sort of like pale white curtains billowing slowly in the sky...we all froze at the unexpected treat, every hair on my body stood on end...i cannot imaginge seeing northern lights as you have pictured, i'm afraid i'd go into some kind of seizure or rapture
So beautiful photos they look good to be true
Fabulous images, and I am curious now and have to ask, are 'Northern Lights' the same phenomenon as 'St Elmo's Fire'?
Thanks Violet, I would love to know. Yes I have been a bit quiet lately, but doing a new vegetable allotment, so much time is spent up there. Hope to be online more soon :)
Nice
Absolutely stunning photos, Violet! With the teepeeslit up like that...well, you get the picture!
Hi VioletSun. Now I know what to add to my bucket list. I want to see this LIVE! Yes! It is truly beautiful. I love lights so much. I know I will be enthralled by the experience. Thank you for sharing this hub to us. Hugs... :-)
I love watching Norther Lights! I have only seen them a few times in my life, but they are worth standing in the cold for hours. I first got to see them when I was 12. The lights shot red, green, blue and white stripes toward the North star for over an hour.
Yes I will. Daisy's internet is down since yesterday..and we just got back from our Siddhartha musical play so schedule was pretty hectic. Oooh that would be lovely VioletSun. How is your website coming along? :-)
Oh that is great news! I'm so excited for you! :-) And yes, the Siddhartha musical play was a beautiful experience...another beautiful journey to enlightenment. :-)
Lovely photos. About 3 yrs ago, we had a strip of the green northern lights in northern Franklin County, Ohio (central part of state) and additional colors up in Saginaw, Michigan. The radio announcers were telling about them every 5 minutes. Once in a long while, they appear down in these lattitudes. i wish we'd had more.
i have never seen them in person, but always like to look the pictures of them. Angels are everywhere, this world is so amazing.
Thumbs up, and many thanks for the pics.
Absolutley beautiful!! Wish I was there with a camera!
How peaceful our atmosphere can be
I really wanna go there. So beautiful. Must be peaceful. :)
Just unbelievably majestic! Wish I could be there in person! It makes me feel 'small' even seeing the pictures of the dramatization! Thank you for sharing! Oh, yes, and thank you for becoming my fan too! :-)
Wow, It would be so amazing to see that in person. These pictures are stunning but I bet no photos could truly do it justice. Thank you for sharing.

Hi VioletSun,
Very breathtaking pictures- thanks for sharing them!!!
Beautiful! Did your friend tell you the significance of the lighted tepees? Certainly added to the beauty of the sky!
Oh Wow Marie... Look how late I am! But I glad I saw this hub today as I really appreciated the magnificent photos. Thanks so much for this hub. Take care... Rob.
I'd seen this Hub before, but when it showed up again in Hubtivity I thought I'd come back and visit again, because the photos are so beautiful.
My childhood, teenage years and until I was 27 were spent in northern Minnesota 100 miles below the Canadian border. So we saw the northern lights quite regularly. They are a spectacular phenomena of nature. Thanks for sharing those pictures; they brought back many memories of nights of long ago.
While in the USAF in Alaska, I saw the Northern Lights only once, breath taking and awesome.
Truly a natural miracle :)
i love the pictures they r really buetiful. WOW
I have to do this - I have to go there! I mean I have to sit down (with a cup of tea) and figure out when I am going to do this. Ah, the beauty of nature. It is there to heal us and make us smile and feel so good.
I'm going to bookmark this so I can share it but also so I can come back and look at it when I need that lift. Thanks so much!
It's photoshop enhanced pictures. The Northern lights do look like that but not as vivid and they are very hard to photograph because even your eyes need time to adjust to see them clearly, a Camera can never do them justice unless you go into Photoshop and enhance the image.
ancient vedic text state that the earth ,moon all planets are hollow . these northern lights are thought by some to source from the hole in north pole . it is said that inside the earth there is a techno. sun of sorts. admiral Birds account of his journy to inner earth tells of the other entrances .love .
Amazing photo's! Loved it!
Lovely Pictures Violet, I've always wanted to see the northern lights.
VioletSun, these are beautiful. I'm so glad that your friend sent them to you and you shared them. I have lived in Alaska (Fairbanks) for almost 4 yrs and every winter we would have the privelage of seeing the N.Lts. They are beyond description-a holy experience. Viewing these made me homesick to see them again.
I've never seen the rainbow-surely God's miraculous artwork.
But, I have seen the dancing lights in colors besides the irridescent green/white. I loved the red. I saw those less often.
Wow, just blew me away seeing them with the teepees in the snow. Did not surprise me that it was as far north as Yellow Knife.
Even if they are photoshopped they are beautiful pix! I would also love to see theswe phenomena.
Thanks for sharing this beauty.
Love and peace
Tony
VioletSun. Hi. What a wonderful experience it must have been for your friend to be there in the moment and see all this natural beauty.
The lights in the tepees are great , but the colors and formations in the sky are fabulous.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photographs with us. :) :)
Hi VioletSun how are you going?
I love these photos and in my opinion the only manipulation of the images would have been no more than what would have been done in the old fashion dark-room.
A bit of "burning-in" here a "dodge" there!
After all the viewer does want to experience the same sensations as the people who were actually experiencing this near spiritual natural occurrence.
Btw: I have seen what is termed the 'Southern Lights' or officially called 'Aurora Australis' on a very odd occasion but alas they are nowhere near as spectacular as the Northern Lights or "Aurora Borealis" in your images that are enhanced with the inclusion of the Teepees. A beautiful Hub :-)
Thanks for the link, Violet Sun! Absolutely amazing.
This is so beautiful...what a sight. Thanks!
Since I was a child this has been at the top of the list of
'things to do before I die'...better hurry up-you never know...thank you so much for these pictures!
beautiful pictures. the northern lights are one of my favorite sites to see. thanks for the pictures, they are breath taking.
Simply amazing pics violetsun. I am pasting some of them to my desktop as wallpapers. Hope you won't mind it. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful photos. It sure does look cold, but a view like that would even be worth a couple frostbitten toes!lol. Thanks for the hub.
