Short Inspirations on a Lazy Wintery Night
73We spent a quiet Thanksgiving evening, just me and my mate. Its interesting how Thanksgiving can change for some of us as the years start to go by. I remember the Thanksgiving gatherings with dozens of friends, neighbors, family, in laws when I was a little girl, and then the get togethers with my immediate family during my corporate years. They were always a time I looked forward to. As I cooked our Thanksgiving meal, I felt grateful that even if these days the Holidays are simpler, and family is scattered as far away as Thailand, I still get to celebrate and cook. It means a lot to me to be able to prepare a meal for someone I love, and to be reminded of the things we are appreciative of.
While the fireplace is warming the living room, and the house is filled with wood incense (highly recommend it) and candles are burning in every room, I went to Facebook and realized I have shared quite a bit of photos and quotes, so since I am spending a lazy night in front of the computer, I thought I would compile a few and share with everyone, a couple or so, were shared in older hubs, but I feel they are worth sharing again; sometimes a beautiful photo coupled with a few words can help to shift our focus and energy.
When I wrote this during the Summer, we were experiencing difficult business debt and some fear, so its good to go back and see that both Phil and I had the opportunity to put into practice what we write and talk about spiritually. We are in a healthier place as we sold our cabin, and paid off credit card debt. Thank God!
"Its a beautiful day - I choose to live today in the moment, to be at peace, and do what brings me a simple contentment, which is to focus on Spirit through my writings and creative ideas. I have found that its true what the teachers have been saying, that life need not be "perfect" for peace to be revealed."
I shared this in another hub and in Facebook, had to share again, as these words resonate with me.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

- Touched by a Magic Wand!
Often, when I dream at night, The latent fantasies soar to a new height; My spirit leaves my body and travels light, I slip into perfect peace and everything feels so right. Standing in a meadow... - Somewhere in time
I wish to dedicate this poem to two of my favorite writers. Nellieanna Hay who through her very thoughtful yet stirring comment left in my recent hub A Lost Kentucky Love inspired me to write Somewhere In... - Authenticity
Original Watercolor by my departed friend, Vivian. Everyone must write His own book, Compose his own music And live each new day As it arrives. Those who know what they must do Are freest... - On a Shelf Lies Hope.....
And when darkness hovers on the horizons and around the darkest hearts you've known. There is a place where we can go ....there has to be .....when thier love isn't shown. But there lies a safe harbor...

"People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering."
Source: St Augustine...love this whole hub great great job...:O) G-Ma Hugs
Lovely photos, Violet. Thank you for sharing them!
Hi Marie: "Spending a quiet thanksgiving evening with someone you love....without family & friends....and still enjoy.." I can so relate to it. We do see things differently at different stages in our life and that applies to interpreting 'happiness' also. Its strange how the form of 'enjoyment' changes as we grow. Now at my age...I can even be happy when I'm all by myself. Everything around us is fluid and changes constantly...even our likes & dislikes.
Very beautiful projection of thoughts! Loved the pics.
Beautiful pictures, a beautiful Thanksgiving message. Being grateful, being happy in the moment and knowing you are special - what more can one ask for?
What a wonderful image you have painted in words :-)
Enjoyed your article. To appreciate what is and acceptance is a learned experience. Life is a celebration of each moment. We have a choice to recognize the possibilities. Thanks for sharing...

Violet Sun - I'm entranced by your account of a lovely, relaxed, enjoyable Thanksgiving and sharing those gorgeous pictures is uplifting! Love the inclusion of others' poetry and am honored to be included among them!
The closing thought about our greatest fear being of our own greatness is true. I always felt intimidated and assumed it was because I was lesser-than those who seemed assured, till one day I realized I was more afraid of being an intimidator! And I realized that each of us has power and greatness if we can bring ourselves to acknowledge it. I also realized that dong so should encourage others rather than intimidate them unless it is done in a deliberately intimidating way. That's what one should be afraid of.
It's an excellent hub, VS. Truly wondrous. Thank you for sharing so much here.
Thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts.
Lovely. As always, VS, you give us hope. :)
Marie, the photos are just as beautiful today and inspiring once more. I had to smile about you writing that you are enjoying a quiet evening. Yes, I too experienced past Thanksgiving holidays at my grandfather's with LOTS of cousins running around. My holiday was special this year, as I got to share it with my daughters and their families.
I'm glad to read that the 'infamous' cabin has been sold. Much good fortune with that and the financial freedom. Blessings.
Thank you, VS. This little thing I wrote this in Nov. 1971 sort of expresses the idea:
Be not intimidated,
Be reinforced
By signs of life herein.
As the flow is fed,
So it distributes
Life ahead.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK which is a pity, because it would be a good opportunity to reflect on all we have to be grateful for, and to take some time to get together, and share food with friends and family. It's a really lovely idea for a holiday.
I love your pictures and reflections, as always, and I'm glad you are in a good place right now. Thank you for sharing.
Very inspiring VS! Thanks for sharing... you touch my soul more than you can imagine! God bless! =)

You are always beautiful sunshine ray, Mary, so soothing photos, inspiring words...sorry because of your cabine, but sometimes we must let things go.
Love and hugs
Hi Marie, I enjoyed this time with you feeling inspired and uplifted looking at the beautiful photos and basking in the words of wisdom you have compiled. Celebrating thanksgiving is a beautiful event...and even if we don't have that one here, maybe I will include that in my own celebration with family and friends! :) I thank the Divine for bringing in the right people to buy the cabin and yes, to settle the debts. That has been our prayer and I'm so happy that it has been answered! For this and so much more...thank you God! :) Marie, hugs and kisses to you always!
Marie, I love being here for you are such a wonderful friend! :)
Lovely. yesss. I really enjoyed the picture show and your words. Cold is here and Christmas is on its way. Blessings of joy to you and Phil. Charlie
i have had the blessing bestowed upon me to experience the fact that i am all powerful. It has happened to me so often that i am scared that some day i will be found not capable of accepting this and somehow it will go way. you are right- we are all scared of our limitless potential.all we need to believe in is that HE is all within us.The vedas (sacred Hindu texts) say it well "TAT twam asi"" you are HIM" and if we really are the LORD where is the limit???
thanks for reminding me . God bless.
