The Universal Language of Poets and Thinkers - Quotes
77
Poetry and thoughts from great thinkers speaks the universal language of love, faith, and tolerance. It reminds us if we allow it, of how intriguing being human and living in this planet can be.
I do not for one minute think that what our five senses tells us, is all there is regarding reality. It humbles me at times to think of the potential that creation has given us; the journey of learning, seeing with a new perception, never ends. Life with its roses and thorns is an everyday miracle, and my old buddy Albert Einstein agrees:
" There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle"
We can choose what we focus on, so I choose to often fill my mind and spirit with the beauty of inspiration in art, poetry or music, because it gives me an inner silence. When we have an inner silence we can hear God or nature, and have a greater appreciation for the miracle of life.
Here I share a few thoughts with photos that I found beautiful. It inspires me that several of these poets, such as Rumi, were born hundreds of years ago, and yet their message still apply to the human condition and to the soul.
Enjoy!
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
Einstein
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
. Max Ehrmann from Desiderata
This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.
Rumi
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles
Marianne Williamson
I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit.
Kahlil Gibran
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.
Wayne Dyer

Very touching and moving hub. The words touched me deeply inside! There is no greater artist than Nature herself!
I like this, the pictures as well. Ah yes, the poets. Don't know a damn thing about it, but they can write and so well too.
Beautiful pix and quotes - thanks for putting them together so well.
Love and peace
Tony
I love the images, Violetsun and really enjoyed the hub. Thanks.
I enjoyed everything about this hub, VS. I loved the message, the images, and the intention of its author. Wonderful and enlightening. Thanks for sending out such an message.
Wow! Those pics were simply 'jaw dropping'. I've been reading newsletters from Marianne Williamson for quite some time. She amazes me with that vast reservoir of knowledge and wisdom, she has been graced with. Writers like her are perhaps at a very advanced stage of spirituality which manifests in the form of heightened creativity. People like her are so perfectly attuned to higher energies that writing comes naturally and effortlessly to them just like a flowing stream of pure water. A great hub Marie.
VS, here I sit snowed in beyond belief here in Baltimore, yet I look around and see the beauty of it all. The snow, the reflections and yes, the concept of neighbors helping neighbors shovel ourselves out of this mess. The quotes and imagery you developed here brought for me the beauty which has been created for us to praise and enjoy. Sure, we gotta fight.
As far as shrinking to fit someone else's comfort zone? Ain't happenin' VS. Ain't happening. Although we are not meant to be proud nor judgmental or any of that, we have the right to shine. How can we possibly expect others to follow Jesus in the way if we appear to be at the same level with others? They are left with nothing to aspire to. No motivations. No reason to go to Jesus.
Show them the lighthouse in the storm. How else could a small boat reach safety without the the beacon of love and safety?

A very good hub, must say. Keep writing.
I have been gone from the hub it seems forever, I must say that I was very pleased to see you still here. I have always found wisdom in your words.
Thanks VioletSun, for your encouraging words. Hope you enjoyed my other hubs also. Enjoy.
loved the pictures too. Yes, I agree. This is the truth. Sometimes, we think we write those lines or the lines were written by someone we know so well. All in all; our feelings and thoughts relate to the events of our lives, which is a universal phenomenon in our existence. Thank you for sharing this. More power.
VioletSun - so happy to have found you.
Your writing is inspirational, your graphics exhalting.
The images match the wondrous quotes making the hub one I want to read and reread.
Thank you.
Great hub.I also believe that no matter how old a wise saying or poetry can be, they still fit into our modern life-that's the universality of great thinkers. My instinct always tell me in some way we all are manifesting the purpose of someone or something special, really I don't know what that great thing is-perhaps mother nature;.Thank you so much. :)
This hub is a great work of art!
Very wonderful Hub nice pictures with good message
Wonderful! Full of wonder...
Your quote: "I do not for one minute think that what our five senses tells us, is all there is regarding reality," is not only agreeable, but a sign of humble wisdom. The sixth sense can perceive much greater (universal) consciousness. Great hub!
VioletSun- "Ahhhhhh" I just took that deep, cleansing breath that the words and images prompted in me. Releasing all tension...
Put together very beautifully. Inspiring.
I know where to return if I need another reminder to 'breathe'. Namaste.
"...is the source of all true art and all science..."
Science is so segmented and fragmented among each other. But everything links in some way.
VioletSun. Hi. I have read through this beautiful hub several times, and each time felt a little different,(in a very good way)
The pictures and quotes are wonderful and seem to give you a sense of peace and tranquility.
Thank you so very much for sharing it with us. I loved it. :) :)
Such beautiful and inspirational quotes, and the photography is just breathtaking, lovely I think I will rate this hub as beautiful. Thanks
What a treat, Violet! Beauty of images, wisdom of thought, music of love, peace of the soul all in one beautifully written and most spiritual hub. Thank You
Absolutely beautiful hub, the pictures, the words, I have been deeply moved and somehow refreshed reading it. I was particularly moved by the line 'When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself'. Thank you so much.
Ah, yes, Violet Sun - I need these quotes every now and then. They are reminders and a good pep talk. We need to read them again and again because we forget and clutter our heads with so much of the negative - and indeed as Marianne Wiliamson reminds us - we are meant to shine and not to shrink. The glow does affect others.
Thanks so much for a much needed pep talk at 5:38am Monday in NYC.
"You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should."
I love this quote! It's something I said similar not too long ago in (as of now) my latest hub, in some way.
You're right--there is timeless commonality in the thoughts of one being to another. When all shine, there is no ego to understand.
We can choose to either feel isolated as if we are but an insignificant speck of dust floating through space-time, or realize that we are just another brightly burning light that makes up the All.
Your words and these quotes are quite beautiful, you have truly uplifted my spirit more. And K@ri's. She says hello, by the way.
Until our next intersection in space-time,
Namaste!
Thank you for these inspired thoughts and beautiful images ~ sorry I didn't discover your hubs earlier ~ I'm looking forward to reading more!
Can I purchase any of these images? The one of the hands with light?
